Treasure BoxesHmm. Ok, there may or may not be boxes but there most certainly will be treasures…or not. Bear with me. This is about the experience of learning through artifact…and building global perspectives among children and adolescents. It has natural science elements, technology, arts, culture, language, etc. The “boxes” might be used in classrooms, libraries or museums. They may be self contained or might have require input from the users. They may have 20 viles of sand from 20 different beaches or there may be a collage image on a website of 20 different types of sand from 20 different beaches. The boxes WILL engage students through inquiry. They WILL represent uniquenesses and similarities across oceans. They may be the product of experiences that my friends are having all over the world! It may erupt into a network of “relatives,” i.e. people who are relating. Pen pals? Treasure box exchanges? Maybe it will be a collection of treasure boxes from around the world to be exhibited together. Hmmm. |
